Check-in / Check-out policy

Check-in by appointment....1-8pm preferred; I'm in bed by 10 pm. Your ETA is critical in planning my busy day....it's my residence, not a staffed hotel. Early afternoon or before your evening plans is great.  (if early without notice, I might not be able to let you in.... late check-ins can be arranged but can be disruptive.... please text updates on way and/or from airport if flying.....might be in pjs when letting you in late) Schneider Suite or Withington Room access involve walking past me and the dog....no easy way to "sneak in". Separate Madison Apt Suite most conducive to self-check-in.  Self-check-in often proves problematic in unfamiliar surroundings. Please refrain from arriving unannounced, or way earlier or later than arranged....possible beds not be made, host indisposed, not home, cleaning or repairs going on, etc. (example, guests usually know well before 2pm if they won't be here at 2pm!!)

Parking. Driveway left of veranda holds two cars, tandem, first come first serve. Pull all the way up so two fit! Street Parking free and legal.  

Breakfast at 9am (occassionally 830 or rarely as early as 8 for business.  Coffee on 815. Also, coffee pots in rooms. (full breakfast w/fruit, egg dishes, a meat, starch and/or pastry ...top quality foods, mostly organic and local as available....excellent Fair Trade coffee, tea...breakfast is homemade by me or famous West Side Market nearby, etc...see web-site and guest reviews.) Dietary restrictions within reason.

Skipping breakfast?? Fine by me but please try to tell me night before so I can plan menu and avoid wasting food...or sleep in!!

Earlier departure??? ...Oh, that last day, "We need to get on the road early!" is not an uncommon phrase. However, I did not plan your trip.... or make you live far away!!! I cannot, respectfully, alter my  routine and schedule on a daily basis to suit extreme departure plans. You might just miss out on the hot breakfast. Coffee, cereal, and toast is available. There is a refrigerator in each guest room and a supermarket across the street; so you can stock something to eat if needed and have no reason to starve. Abundant coffee shops in the area; most don't open before 7 am. I am a nice guy, aim to be hospitable ....but it works both ways.

Pet policy

No pets, please. One cat and one 80 lb. rescue dog live here already. Pets kept out of guest rooms. (Madison Apt Suite is separate and pet free.)

Group Policy

Mobile contact info required for additonal guests arriving separately.....a courtesy for planning, safety and emergency. Home and business land lines are not helpful when you are traveling or have an emergency. Thank you.
Must be 21 or older to arrive unaccompanied.

General policy

****Covid 19 Vaccination required for all Bookings**** Full room descriptions on web-site and booking site under room. Everyone is politely reminded there is one (1) 80 lb. rescue dog and one (1) cat in the house. The pets are usually part the appeal! I am told by reliable & reasonable sources my home is acceptably "pet odor free". The cleaning crew and I use mix of standard chemical and plant based retail cleaners, bleach in the bathrooms, other sanitizers and occasional air fresheners. Please consider your pet and chemical issues prior to your stay. "Private Home" means I live here; I work here. Nice but not perfect, a work in progress.
